Press Release
Position of Negotiations with TDC

In response to a news story on the news at noon today in the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, the Executive Committee on Privatisation would like to offer the following comment.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, acting on behalf of the Executive Committee on Privatisation, sent a letter to TDC informing the Committee that the next meeting would be used to review the conclusions of the financial statement for 2001 and the revised operating budget for 2002, both of which will be finalised soon. At the same time, TDC was informed that the Executive Committee on Privatisation reserved the right to engage in discussions with other parties who have recently expressed an interest in the sale. It is, false, therefore that negotiations with TDC have been terminated on the part of the Committee. It is unfortunate that TDC has of late elected to communicate with the Committee through the media. The Committee will decide on its future course of action later this week.
